My mama always said a lot of things while I was growing up, the most terrifying of which was usually “You just wait until your father gets home!” But as I left the nest and ventured out on my own these last few years, I have more often than not wondered why in the world some other people’s parents hadn’t taken them out back more often.
This week for one reason or another I have come to find great appreciation in the principles, and manners that were instilled in me as a child. You don’t get anywhere in life without help from the people around you, and taking credit for their work is mistake #1 on a long list of reasons you’ll someday fail.
I believe in paying it forward, saying thank you, and keeping your mouth shut. When faced with adversity you often times just have to half smile, and move on. The negative words and actions of others earn them no rewards, and they’ll find their pockets empty of much more than friends soon enough.
Lesson Today: Remember what your mama told you, and know that time will take care of those who can’t take care of themselves. You’ve got to protect those around you, stand for the house that keeps them, and at the end of the day, the forces that aim to wrong you will have one hell of a time trying to do it.
Sometimes you have to tuck that chin in to win the round.
